57 – II. State's Primary School

The site is delimited by the M. Rázusa and Veľká Okružná Roads and on the south side by Žilina’s old cemetery. On that irregular parcel, the architect F.E. Bednárik solved the layout problem with a T-shaped school building. The front structure was originally conceived with ribbon windows but large window openings were built eventually. They structure the entire facade, which attracts with its clean and functional architecture. The three-storey building is designed in a modern way. In the middle of the layout is a clearly legible communication space for a wide staircase and corridors. The gymnasium is connected to the outdoor playgrounds and school garden.
In front of the school there is a dispersing area which, together with the church and the surrounding estates, is designed to be a future square. Its pure form shapes the urban area of Svojdomov as a unique contemporary architectural complex.
