Townhouse number 7 was less notable. In the 18th century, the house was owned by Matej Čepan, and then it belonged to his widow Barbara Pergelova, and later Ján Sutery. During the 19th century it was the property of the David family. In 1890 Eduard Schlessinger became the new owner. We know that at the turn of the century, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of Žilina, the Trieste insurance company, and a pharmacy were all based here. Eduard Schlessinger’s widow married Eduard Szél and in 1925 she left the house to her children – Valéria, Rudolf and Juraj. The last owner before it was nationalised was Pavol Szél. The house consists of a Gothic-Renaissance basement, ground floor and first floor with Renaissance features and was extended following a fire in the modern era. Under socialism, there was a famous snack bar on the ground floor of the building called “U Kráľa” [at the King’s], an oasis for all those who wanted to eat something in the evening. It was the only eatery of its kind in the town. And so, especially on summer evenings when all the other restaurants in town were closed and hungry travellers were hurrying for a train, you could often hear them say "Let’s get a hot dog at the King’s!". It was always busy outside the snack bar. The building was renovated in 2002.
