Židovský cintorín v Žiline – בית הקברות היהודי בז'ילינה – Jewish cemetery in Zilina

In the midle of a busy city there is a converted Jewish cemetery, an oasis of silence and tranquility. It is located on the western side of the historical city center. There is a tri-wing entrance gate and a Hebrew inscription. It is enclosed by a solid wall around the perimeter. The size of the cemetery is 40 x 180 meters and there are more than 1500 graves. The maple alley is behind the gate, and there is a large ceremonial hall, which houses ground floor buildings on both sides. The cemetery is situated on a horizontal terrain, which comes through the ceremonial hall. When you enter the ceremonial hall and the cemetery, you need to use a head blanket. Zilina's Jewish cemetery belongs to the Jewish religious community as the best preserved in Slovakia.

Uprostred rušného mesta sa nachádza upravený židovský cintorín, oáza ticha a pokoja. Žilinský židovský cintorín patrí zásluhou Židovskej náboženskej obce k najlepšie udržiavaným na Slovensku. Rozprestiera sa na západnej strane mesta na Jesenského ulici. Vpredu je kovová vchodová brána a po celej dĺžke je ohradený pevným múrom. Veľkosť cintorína je 40 x 180 metrov a nachádza sa tu viac ako 1500 hrobov. Za bránou sa nachádza javorová aleja a za ňou je rozsiahla ceremoniálna hala ku ktorej sú z oboch strán pristavené malé budovy. Cintorín leží na vodorovnom teréne na ktorý sa prichádza cez ceremoniálnu halu. Pri vstupe do ceremoniálnej haly je potrebné použiť prikrývku na hlavu.
