Smútočná tryzna za šesť miliónov umučených Židov v obradnej sieni židovského cintorína v Žiline

Smútočnú tryznu za obete holokaustu v obradnej sieni židovského cintorína v Žiline otvoril Ing. Pavel Frankl, predseda Židovskej náboženskej obce v Žiline. Smútočnej tryzny sa zúčastnili: Michael Kapustin, neologický rabín z Bratislavy, Martin Kornfeld, vedúci kancelárie ÚZ ŽNO v SR, Ing. Juraj Blanár, predseda Žilinského samosprávneho kraja, Ing. Igor Choma, primátor mesta Žilina, zástupcovia kresťanských cirkví v Žiline, príbuzní obetí holokaustu, zahraniční a domáci hostia. Smútočná tryzna za obete holokaustu sa koná v Žiline nepretržite od konca 2. svetovej vojny. V obradnej sieni sa nachádza Pamätník obetiam holokaustu, ktorý bol postavený po skončení vojny podľa návrhu Ing. arch. Jozefa Zweigenthala. Na mramorových tabuliach je nekonečný zoznam mien 2 668 židovských mužov, žien a detí zo Žiliny a blízkeho okolia, ktorí zahynuli počas holokaustu.

Memorial ceremony for the victims of Holocaust was opened by Pavel Frankl – president of the Jewish religion comunity, in ceremony room of Jewish cemetery in Zilina. At the ceremony there were present: Michael Kapustin – neological rabin from Bratislava, Martin Kornfeld – chief of the office ÚZ ŽNO in SR, Juraj Blanar – president of the Zilina Self-Governing Region, Igor Choma – Mayor of the Zilina city, representants of the religious communities in Zilina, relatives of the Holocaust victims, guest from Slovakia and abroad.Memorial ceremony for this victims is taking place in Zilina in a row from the end of the WWII. There is a Holocaust victims memorial in the ceremony room, build after WWII, designed by Ing. arch. Jozefa Zweigenthal. On the marble boards there is a list of names of 2668 jew men, women and children from Zilina and surroundings, who passed away during Holocaust.

Hneď za bránou z Jesenského ulice sa nachádza javorová aleja, za ktorou je rozsiahla ceremoniálna hala. K nej sú z oboch strán pristavené malé budovy a v jednej z nich je dnes dom správcu cintorína. Ceremoniálna hale je priechodná bloková stavba s troma vstupmi, cez ktorú sa vchádza na cintorín. V jednoduchom interiéri s kazetovým stropom sa nachádza katafalk na truhlu a miesta pre pozostalých. V ceremoniálnej hale sa vykonáva posledná rozlúčka so zosnulými, zároveň slúži ako pietna miestnosť s pamätníkom od Ing. arch, Jozefa Zweigenthala za obete holokaustu. Veľkú ceremoniálnu halu postavili v roku 1936 bratia Steinovci. V ceremoniálnej hale sa každoročne koná smútočná tryzna za šesť miliónov umučených Židov počas 2. svetovej vojny.

Passing through the gate from Jesenskeho Street, you come to ash alley, and ahead of you is the Ceremonial Hall. Two smaller buildings are adjacent to the Hall from both sides, one of which houses the caretaker of the cemetery. In the simple interior with coffered ceilings, you can find a catafalque for the coffin and a place for the bereaved. The ceremonial Hall is where you pay your last respects to the deceased, but it also serves as a prayer hall with a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, designed by Architect Jozef Zweigenthal. The large Ceremonial Hall was built in 1936 by the Stein brothers. A memorial ceremony is held in the Ceremonial Hall every year, commemorating the six million Jews that perished during World War II.
