Osvienčimská správa
V tejto budove v apríli 1944, po svojom úteku, slovenskí židia, Rudolf Vrba a Alfréd Wetzler podali
svedectvo o vyhladzovacom tábore Osvienčim, tu vznikla ich svetoznáma správa – najznámejší doklad
o hrôzostrašnom nacistickom masovom vraždení. Ani táto správa, ktorá sa dokázateľne dostala
k vedúcim predstaviteľom Spojencov, ich neprimäla k bombardovaniu plynových komôr, krematórií
či železníc do tábora smrti. Do konca vojny boli zavraždené státisíce bezbranných ľudí.

Správu prekladal už počas jej písania zo slovenčiny do nemčiny s pomocou Gisely Steinerovej Neumannov poradca Oscar Krasniansky, inžinier a stenograf.

Rudolf Vrba, originally named Walter Rosenberg, and Alfred Wetzler, were the first to escape from Auschwitz. In 1944, in the building that used to be the retirement home for the Jewish community in Zilina, these two runaway’s wrote a 32-page account of what was being done to Jews in Auschwitz. While the account was being written, it was being simultaneously translated from Slovak into German by assessor Oscar Krasniansky, Engineer and Stenographer, together with the help of Gisela Steiner Neumann. Mr. Wetzler wrote the first part of the account, Mr. Vrba the third, and both took part in writing the middle. The account was finished on April 27th, 1944 and was sent all around the world, in the hopes of spreading information about the mass murders taking place during the Holocaust. Mr. Vrba’s and Mr. Wetzler’s account, written in Zilina, is considered to be one of the most important documents from the time of the Holocaust.
