Architectural style: originally this was a 16th century Renaissance house, Baroque features were added in the 18th century and in the 20th century the building was altered. The basement is Gothic in style, and the ground floor and first floor are Renaissance. The predominant architectural style is Renaissance.
It is a corner house with one side facing on to Hodžova Street. According to a local legend, there used to be a building here with a relay station and pub for wayfarers at the back. It is rumoured that ladies of the night used to gather here. The first reference to this house dates back to the first half of the 18th century, when it belonged to Žofia Vittichová, who immediately sold it to Adam Košeľa for 800 gold coins in 1749. The house, like the majority of the other houses, frequently changed owners and was in a dilapidated and virtually unusable state at the end of the 18th century, following a fire in 1797. Karol Ottmayer bought it in that condition for only 500 gold coins. He had three sons. One of them, Anton Vavrinec Ottmayer, was an important writer and chairman of the Association of Slovak Language and Literature Lovers in Pest, but more importantly, he was a lawyer. He lectured in law at the Faculty of Law in Budapest, where he was also a dean. He worked with an important Slovak public official, Martin Hanuliak. Anton Vavrinec Ottmayer and his brothers sold the house where they were born in 1837. The last owners of the house before nationalization were the Buxbaum family. Tatra, a shop selling, photographic, cosmetic and toiletry goods was based here. The store was situated under a bricked-in arcade. The building has a Gothic cellar. The ground and first floors have renaissance features. The building was renovated and extensively rebuilt in 1997.
