V Žiline boli dve náboženské obce: neologická a ortodoxná. Ortodoxná synagóga je jednoduchá, nenápadná budova s modlitebnou a ďalšími miestnosťami. Modlitebňa bola postavená v roku 1927 v medzivojnovej rezidenčnej zástavbe. Vyvýšený podpivničený objekt je dvojica stavieb, prednej modlitebne a zadného traktu, ktoré opticky zjednocuje veranda so schodištným nástupom. Modlitebňa je orientovaná do ulice východnou fasádou, s čitateľným umiestením áronu hakodeš. Interiér je v intaktnom stave so zachovaným pôvodným mobiliárom s geometrickým dekorom dvadsiatych rokov.

Zilina had two religious communities: the Neological and Orthodox. An Orthodox synagogue is a simple, inconspicuous building with a prayer hall and other rooms. The prayer hall was built in 1927 in an interwar, residential area. The raisOred building with a full basement is actually two buildings in one-the front encompassing the prayer hall and the back encompassing the rest of the building-with the veranda and the front stairs optically combining the two buildings into one. The prayer hall is oriented towards the street via the east facing façade, with the aron hakodesh placed in full view for readers. The interior is intact, with the original furnishings with their geometric décor dating back to the 1920’s. The prayer hall is divided by a wooden partition (mechitza). Next to the synagogue was also a small courtyard and apartment. The basement, where Jewish ritual baths were formerly held, is now home to several businesses. The basement was also renovated after the war. Today, the museum is located in the back of the synagogue, where the woman’s section was once located. The exposition of The Museum of Jewish Culture opened on June 29th, 1996. Most of the exhibit is made up of sacred objects and are the property of the Zilina Jewish community. The exhibition hall and prayer hall are divided by a wooden partition, through which visitors can get a full view of the configuration of the prayer hall.
